Embark Yoga’s approach:
-
Educate
Self-understanding is a key part to growth and it’s important to understand where you are starting. Through assessments and self-inquiry, we begin to explore yoga concepts, your beliefs, what your intentions are, along with yoga frameworks and practices along with current science that will support your intention.
-
Equip
Equip yourself by experimenting, practicing, applying what you have learned in your day-to-day life to discover what actually works for YOU, and what doesn’t. This process of adaptation and adjustment will continue as you learn and understand yourself more fully.
-
Self-Empower
Comprehensive Yoga Therapy is meant to equip you with skills to become self-responsible and gain the power to reclaim your health, wellness, and freedom in body, mind, and soul. Understanding and practice will empower you to approach life situations with greater resilience and find greater peace of mind in the face of challenges.
Behind the Logo:
The vision of Embark Yoga is represented by a picture of three overlapping circles with a common shared space in the middle (a Venn Diagram). These three circles represent body, mind, and spirit. This image gives each of us an opportunity to pause and consider how each area affects the others. The number of circles could expand to include relationships, work, social life, service to community, fitness, nutrition…and any other aspects of life that are important to you.
What remains in the middle?
You.
Everyone’s diagram is unique and yours reflects YOU.
What we believe…
Yoga is regarded as a science.
Yoga is a system of health originating in India for the whole person.
Did you know that the word "Yoga" actually means "Union" or “yoke”?Yoga as a noun means a state of inner peace and harmony that is not based on external things or events.
Yoga as a verb means to practice the time-tested principles that lead to inner peace and reclaimed wholeness.
Yoga is compatible with and complementary to all spiritual belief systems.
What we do NOT believe…
Yoga is just physical stretching or a (women’s group class) fitness activity. Our whole person approach to yoga goes far beyond the physical.
Yoga requires twisting the body into a pretzel shape. We begin where you are, and you never need to achieve a specific physical milestone to enjoy the benefits of yoga.
Yoga requires a body that is a certain size, flexibility level, or age. Yoga is for every body!
Yoga is only done on a mat. The physical asanas (poses or postures) are only one part of yoga. Yoga is about achieving inner peace and wholeness on and off the mat.
What does Embark Yoga believe?
"I think it is important to feel safe and respected when working with another person especially when the client is having to express their vulnerabilities. I thank you for being so present and caring and empathetic so that I could feel comfortable expressing any concerns that I had. You addressed those issues in very informative ways. I also am grateful for the postures and exercises that have helped me physically. You have great patience and ability to use your words precisely."
