Private Yoga Therapy

My experience of working with Dawn in yoga therapy is that she is authentic, kind, empathetic and 100 percent present.  As a yoga therapist, she listens deeply. She often poses just the right question or provides just the right image at the right time. At the end of a session, I often felt like I had an answer to my question or a solution to my problem myself, all along.  It is liberating and empowering. I trust her. I have tried yoga and I have tried traditional therapy but never the combined practice of yoga therapy before meeting with Dawn! Yoga therapy was a unique pairing that allowed my body to stretch and respond to the way I was feeling, which in turn opened my mind to connections I had not made before.  The somatic movement in a safe and peaceful environment tapped deeper into my stored stress and anxieties in an easier way than just talking. I almost surprised myself at how easily the thoughts and feelings and connections came to me while doing the simple yoga positions and it brought me "back into my body" and out of my head.  

I didn't know what to expect at first but I quickly came to look forward to my meetings with Dawn and found that I was keeping the notes and takeaways from our sessions for future reference!  Dawn is professional, approachable, and put me at ease.  I recommend Yoga Therapy with Dawn for anyone who feels "stuck" and wants to combine gentle movement to loosen their body and their mind.

Yoga therapy sessions with Dawn are the gift you give yourself.  I looked forward to my one-on-one sessions with Dawn each week.  The individual attention and her gentle guidance in the poses is exactly what I needed.  I have been practicing yoga regularly for over 20 years.  Recently my ability to move through the poses was becoming more difficult because of my aging body.  Dawn acknowledged what is and made small modifications to my movements.  Her acceptance of where I am with my practice taught me to accept what is, not yearn for what was.  Each session was unique and totally directed to what was “up” with me that week. I love the restorative poses Dawn taught me, even my husband has started doing one I taught him! Thanks Dawn!

Dawn helped me start to cultivate a quiet center that I can reconnect with, and work from, any time of day. She did that with her depth of knowledge, compassionate attention, and willingness to experiment and be flexible. Group Yoga Classes

Dawn's yoga classes are regularly on my calendar because they are wonderful!  Over the course of some many months, I have noticed a positive change in my life. I am calmer, kinder, and able to work through the competing mental struggles I sometimes have. Dawn is a wise and gentle instructor who also encourages each student to explore the edge of a boundary without doing harm. I have benefitted very much from Dawn's teaching.

I guess you could say I'm experiencing some "lifequakes" right now.  But, with the help of (constant and frequent, lately!) yoga and remembering to breathe, I feel strong and capable in the face of all the challenges. Thank you for getting me to this point of strength within myself!

I have experimented with yoga several times but never found the right space until the small group sessions were offered. I am in the stage of my life where I have the time to really concentrate on my health and fitness. I’ve always wanted to see how yoga would add to my fitness regimen, especially because I needed more mobility and flexibility. Larger yoga classes were not a good fit for me because I didn’t feel like I knew what I was doing and did not feel comfortable asking questions. A small group is the right combination of learning in a more intimate, non-threatening setting, with the added benefit of being able to ask questions in the moment.

I have seen a real difference in how I feel physically, some of which is related to learning how to listen to my body through yoga poses. Intellectually, it is easy to say that there is a mind-body connection and that we should all pay attention to that connection. This class has helped me to start to practice/learn/appreciate/listen to that connection, not just talk about it in theory.

On top of all that, the small group has become a support system in some way. We’re all there, doing the best we can, asking questions, breathing, laughing occasionally and in the end we walk out of there feeling great! Thanks!

Dawn’s class is just right for me. I'm dialed back to exploring without performing or striving. I notice my tendencies to go a little too far, or not be fully present, and then glimpse and acknowledge the fleeting sweet spot! I realized I had favored comfort over strength, thinking I was just fine as is. But life has a way of showing us that flexibility and confidence in the body are much more valuable allies which actually support comfort. I can already tell the difference throughout the day, even in how I sleep.
